Avity Principal Matt Neuroth was invited to speak at the Industrial + Technology Assistance Corporation in New York City on the topic of social media.  The presentation was part of the NYC Web Design Meetup Group.

Matt's presentation, entitled "The Psychology of Social Media", outlined some of the crucial motivational factors that drive the activities of a majority of social media users.  Organizations hoping to move beyond "I have a Facebook page and a Twitter account...now what?!" will need to consider these motivations as foundational elements in their social media strategy.

One important paradigm shift is the switch from using social media to broadcast a scripted organizational message (the traditional method) to positioning your organization as a vehicle through which people can express the things they need to express about themselves.  While this shift can sometimes seem daunting to people more acquainted with traditional online marketing, Matt's presentation - through a combination of theory and real-life examples - aims to take some of the mystery out of successful social media strategies.

Matt is a return speaker to ITAC and the NYC Web Design Meetup Group, having previously given a presentation on effective project management techniques.

Avity is proud to announce the launch of the new website for the Yale Office of Sustainability.

Built on a customized installation of the Drupal CMS and featuring beautiful design provided by our partner, Asirastudio, the new Yale Office of Sustainability (YOS) site is uniquely configured to allow YOS to further their real-world mission in a web environment.  Throughout the site, Avity made use of graphic elements like slideshows and tabbed News items to enable YOS to cleanly feature large amounts of information in a relatively small space.
The site also features interactive elements such as user polls on sustainability issues and connections to YOS's active Facebook fan page.

In the upcoming months, Avity will enhance the social media aspects of the YOS web presence with the launch of a unique Facebook application allowing users to actively weigh in on how to solve some of the most pressing and complicated institutional sustainability issues.

Avity is proud to announce the launch of the new Global Granite and Marble website.

The new site is built on a custom Content Management System designed to easily handle the thousands of products offered by Global Granite & Marble (GGM).  Via the intuitive administrative backend, the GGM admins can add/edit/remove regular content pages featuring multiple, optional photos and embedded lightbox galleries.  They can also add/edit/remove products and product galleries with multiple product photos.  The system automatically creates image thumbnails from uploaded product photos and displays them in the gallery listings, image rollovers, and lightbox galleries on the individual product pages.

Finally, the CMS allows the GGM admins to easily maintain the complex inter-relations among the products, including designating "Related Products", "Featured Products", and mutliple product category assignments.
